In Memory

Diane Hoffmann

HOFFMANN, Diane L. 10/27/1955 - 10/2/2014 Diane was born October 27, 1955, in Camp Hanford, WA, to Margery and Karl Hoffmann. She died peacefully at Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, AZ, October 2, 2014. Diane grew up in Spokane, graduating from Lewis & Clark High School in 1974. It was during her senior year, that she was involved in a horrific freeway accident in California. She bore the scars inside and out for the rest of her days. After high school, she attended EWU, but soon left for Arizona where she resided for close to 40 years. The sun and warm weather, swimming in a nearby river, listening to and recording music made her happy. Diane was preceded in death by her mother, Margery, and baby brother, Gregory. She is survived by her long time partner, Kenneth Speakman of Cibola, AZ, father Karl Hoffmann, sisters Shannon Wark (John), Gretchen McElreath (Ron), brother, Marc Hoffmann (Tina), aunts, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family is planning a "Remembering Diane" luncheon at Patsy Clarks on October 24, 2014. We will miss Diane and she will be forever in our hearts.

I attended Hutton, Sacajawea and LC with Dianne. She was in my Campfire Group. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. She played the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz play at Sacajawea and she absolutely stole the show with her laugh! I believe her good friends Sue Coons and Pam Johnston (who later died in that horrific car accident) were in the same play. I think Sue may have played Dorothy and Pam was the Tin Man. The chemistry between these 3 was evident and added 2 the hilarity of the moment when Pam fell backwards and couldn't get up due to her costume. Years later after the terrible accident during our Senior year I went 2 visit Dianne in the hospital and she told me that she was so happy when her dad carried her outside that she cried. She was a gift to everyone knew her. So deeply sorry for her family and friend's loss.

I remember Diane twirling her beautiful curly brown hair around her fingers in Mr. Sesso's class at Hutton.  So many moments over the years I have often thought of the pain that she went through in losing her best friend.  And now, at this time, I think of the peace that must come as all of them, Sue, Pam, and now Diane are reunited in the spirit of love that they had in their youth. Your light shines, and may your grieving be over. Peace to your soul, and love to all that you loved.
