Jan Gotzian Nail, born on May 19, 1956, and left this world on October 8, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness, patience, and unwavering resilience.

Jan was born in Spokane, Washington, and was the beloved daughter and third child of Conrad and Joan Gotzian. She began her academic journey at Hutton Elementary School, continued at Sacajawea Middle School, and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. She attended Washington State University and loved being a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Jan's life was a remarkable journey filled with grace and determination, despite facing the challenges of Muscular Dystrophy. She carried herself with incredible strength and she refused to be discouraged. Her positivity and radiant smile inspired those around her.

One of Jan's most remarkable qualities was her impeccable memory for the important events in the lives of her loved ones. Birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions were never forgotten, and she took immense joy in celebrating these moments with the people she cherished. She had a gift for making those around her feel heard and valued. Her genuine compassion and empathy touched the lives of many, and her friendships were appreciated by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jan's legacy of perseverance and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Gotzian and sister Jill Gotzian. She is survived by her husband Richard, daughters Jessica (Chris) Malde and Shelby (Julian) Lang. Soon to be six grandchildren Jake, Parker and Gwyneth Malde and Amelie, Gabe and new baby Lang. Her siblings Gail (Gary) Weinberg, Kathryn Leslie, (Kristi) Gotzian and Hap (Cheryl) Gotzian along with many nieces and nephews who will forever carry forward the lessons of strength and humility that she taught them.

Jan Gotzian Nail may have left this world, but her legacy of kindness, patience, and resilience will forever shine brightly as a guiding light for all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
